Kilcommon/Rearcross FC U-12' 3 - Lough Derg 'B' 3

Conditions were perfect for football on Saturday morning as Lough Derg made the journey to Rearcross for an U12 league game. Kilcommon / Rearcross started brightly putting the visiting side under some pressure. 12 minutes had passed when Darragh Carr won the ball at midfield where he laid off a great ball to Aaron Lenihan who found the net from outside the area giving the home side the advantage. The advantage was short lived however as Lough Derg attacked the Kilcommon / Rearcross defence down the left flank and the resultant cross caused a goalmouth scramble which eventually found the ball hitting the Kilcommon / Rearcross net. 4 minutes later the home side suffered a further blow when a ball which spilled from the goalkeeper's hands fell to the Lough Derg stricker for a simple tap in. The second half started with both sides fighting hard in an effort to collect the points. A penalty awarded to the Lough Derg side despite the protests from the home team was duly converted making it 3-1 to the visitors in the 40th minute. Kilcommon / Rearcross were not to be outdone and played well to get back into the game. 2 quick goals in the 49th and 52nd minutes from Aaron Lenihan and Tristan Deegan respectively brought the sides level. The home side pushed on in an effort to claim a winner but time went against them leaving both sides with a share of the points.
